Okay, I am apparently very misinformed and haven’t considered many options. I just feel very badly for kids that have to go through the foster care system and I wish there was more that could be done to stop the men and women from having children when those children won’t ever be allowed to live normal, healthy lives. 3 years ago • 16 notesI also want to add that my best friend has an adopted brother that was taken from his crack whore mom while she was still recovering from labor in the hospital. The state wasn’t going to let her keep the child because she wasn’t keeping a stable-enough lifestyle. I know that this article is about a guy, but when do we start drawing the line? Can’t we have court-mandated surgery? What happens when these mothers can’t afford to keep all of these children and they eventually end up in foster care and we end up paying tax money for it?“Desmond Hatchett, a 29 year old who lives in Knoxville, Tennessee, has fathered 20 (maybe 21) children with at least 11 different mothers. The kids, who are between 11 months and 11 years old, require food, clothing, etc. which doesn’t come cheap. That’s a problem for their minimum-wage earning father.”When asked if he plans to have anymore, he says, “I didn’t intend to have this many, it just happened.”
NO… NO. No it doesn’t just happen. CONDOMS. Ugh. I’m also curious how many STD’s he may have contracted in his years of fathering children. I’m really disgusted right now.
okay because here’s the thing. there’s obviously some sort of absence of sex ed on SOMEBODY’S part (whether it is the man or one of his childrens’ mothers or whatever) and it’s really really sad that this has happened. BUT I feel like that all that is going to happen with this story is people pointing fingers and going “omg what an IDIOT, of course he’s black, lolololol baby mama baby mama, hahaha black people havin all that unprotected sex” when what should happen is an analysis of why this happened and how it can be prevented from happening again.
and I’m not saying that’s what you’re saying, sarahchristine - it’s just what I forsee other people saying and I’m going to want to punch things because of it.
first of all, aldghowaehgoa;g “crack whore.” come on.
what are you saying? forced sterilization of drug addicts? I’m just kind of confused by what point you’re trying to make here.
Well, she is! She’s a drug addict who keeps on having children with random men. She’s had 5 now and who knows how many more times she’ll get pregnant. All 5 children are in foster care. I am saying that we should consider forced sterilization of drug addicts. It’s not fair that she keeps bringing illegitimate children into this world. Kenneth has ADHD and is now behind a grade in school. He’s been in and out of 5 homes and I don’t think it’s fair that he had to go through that. He’s probably not going to have a successful adulthood, not like us at least. I know it’s hard to keep track of these women, but allowing the surgery will keep them from producing children that tax payers have to pay for until they are 18. I think I have been enlightened to the situation enough that I have a valid point.
but what if she, or another woman (or man as i’m assuming you’d want to steralize men as well?) cleans up and becomes sober for several years and decides to have a family? steralization is pretty permanent..
What about families like the Duggars? if they were poor, and couldn’t afford all of their children or birth control, should they be sterilized too? Deciding who has a right to reproduce is a slippery slope. The right to reproduce is a basic human right. If you want to be sterilized, as I do, that is one matter, but saying that you aren’t good enough to reproduce is not yours or anyone’s right. Society may say that you aren’t fit to raise a child, but never that the child has no right to be born.
